which way? is the speedo reading faster or slower than you are actually moving? if faster, i would ignore it and act as if it is accurate. we can all use a little 'cushion' from time to time.....
Yeah it reads faster, and I kind of like it. The extra cushion is nice, especially in the Commonwealth of Virginia, lol.
Sorry to dig this coffin out of the cemetery - going from a 16" to an 18" rear wheel, where is the height increase actually noticed? Is it the measurement from the ground to the center of the axle?

An 18" rim will be 1" taller from the axle to the lip of the rim. Normally a lower profile tire will compensate for the larger rim BUT lower profile tire usually translates to a harsher ride. A 16" rim will give you a smoother ride with the taller profile. If you go to an 18" rim and use a higher profile tire it could rub on the underside of the fender or hit when going over bumps.
So smaller rim with taller tire equals smoother ride. Looks or function it's your choice.
the difference between the stock 16'' wheel/tire and the stock 18'' wheel/tire is a total of .6''. so from ground to center of axle, .3''. even with my short legs, i find that pretty negligible.

Yup. Difference of 16" with higher profile tire and 18" with lower profile tire is not that much. Some people find the ride harsher but like the handling better. Same deal with cars.
i really don't notice it that much. but then, i've been running the 19/16 combo since 2010 or so when i put chrome agitators on my bike. i like the look of the larger wheels and have just gotten used to the 'firmness' of the ride. but i did upgrade the stock suspension too so that may have something to do with it as well.
