I ride solo only 185 lbs. I spent a lot of years on Sportsters so I know what a stiff ride feels like. I then got a 10 FXDC and that had a much smoother ride. Now I have 7300 miles on my 11 RK with the stock 13" shocks and that is the one disappointment I have with my King.
I spent the Summer trying air pressure from 0 up to 24 lbs and the best is around 10 lbs and I still think it's to stiff.
I don't feel a great desire to go spend 5 or $600 to make it ride the way I think it should have stock. I'm just going to try and live with it because the rest of my King is great and I love this bike.
The stock 12in air shocks suck. I tried 3 different shocks, including the Progressive 940s, before finally finding a pair that i liked. They are the Harley Premeium lows. The CVO Street Glide comes stock with these shocks. http://www.harley-davidson.com/gma/g...bmLocale=en_US. You will not find a better 12in shock for the price. The only better option is a set Ohlins but they are much more expensive.
You will never get a decent ride out of the factory SG air shocks.
If you want a better ride, you will need better shocks.
Do a "search" on shocks, and you will find enough reading to keep you busy for months.
You can get progressive 440's or 940's on ebay for less than 500$, the stock SG shocks are junk, I have heard of some guys changing to a heavier fluid and improving the ride though.
Ok, well I guess while I'm reading for months I can save up some dough till I figure it out.
Relocating the fill valve is a great idea, thanks.
I don't see how my SG is 1" lower then any other as I still have the stock shocks.
I'm running at 14psi right now and it hit hard in the rear. I had 20 psi in it and it was worse, guess I'll just mess around till I get it better.
Thanks for all the info,
J
I think I may do some studying for awhile but I'm going to be taking my time before shelling out $600 for shocks (Damn). Let me know what you decide on maybe by that time I might be thinking of the same ones?

I am using the standard length on my Street Glide.
Night and Day difference between these and the factory shocks.
