I didn't know that; never raced. I learned about it from my father, who'd driven the deuce-and-a-half during WWII, and once I ran across an old flat bed truck where it helped somewhat.

 

I always blip when I downshift. It makes for smoother shifts, and it just sounds damn cool.



P.S. I also blip when I pass under a bridge....
