Are the cow bells on stock streetglides chrome? Im getting chrome front end put on and dealer called saying they only orderedthe chrome lowers. I asked for chrome front end. They said cow bells are polished stainless and not chrome. What's the deal. They look like chrome
My battery cover, chain gaurd, forward controls and all hardware are made of SS on my shovelhead low rider and you can't tell the difference. The forward controls are made from cold rolled 3/8' plate. It took a lot of buffing, sanding, & filing for the controls but the material for the battery cover and chain gaurd looked about like the stock HD cow bells when they started. They buffed right up. The only thing that might make a difference is the HD SS is magnetic and I used 304L.
As thin as the cowbells are I would have some concerns chrome plated steel that thin may rust through over a period of time. You could buff your stock CB or take them to a local plater and see what you think.
Love the SS parts. If they get fine scratches take em off and buff them out to new.
Thanks guys im glad the mechanic said something about it while I was in the phone tonight. I requested the chrome front end but they only ordered the lowers. What baffles me is ordered the diamond back cables upper and lowers, faring, pyo bars, chrome controls, mirror agitators to make it look good and the kit they got didn't even come with the axle nut covers. I surely don't want the front upper to look different then the lower.
Good thing we caught it early on the pr
