Rain Riding.............
I think riding in the rain is an important skill to develop because you never know where you'll be or when it'll hit.
Here's a funny riding in the rain story I had coming back from Canada last year (look at the last paragraph "Spiders and Wind"
One thing's for sure, cleaning the bike after riding in the rain just sucks!

I remember the days when my Pan was the only thing I had. I HATED the rain, I was in one storm that was raining so hard that if I went over 50 MPH the Pan would hydroplane, and my tires were new. Although I wouldnt trade those days for anything.
Still dont like the rain!!

I don't ever recall meeting anyone who liked riding in the rain but after motorcycling for 35 years I've yet to find a way around it. I know I hate it and have many miles of riding in it. Wouldn't that be a nice accessory to buy from the dealer, a rainproof motorcycle.
The day I bought my Ultra we ran into a friggin monsoon about 50 miles from home. High winds, lightning, you name it. Two lane road, shorty helmets, and no rainsuits. Trucks were drowning us and it was wifes first experience with stinging raindrops so I had to go slooowww. Weathermen are a bunch of da#n liars.
No one likes riding in the rain. The many times I have ridden for lack of a better choice, it was more leisurely and I did enjoy it. A bad day riding is still better than a good day at work!

Heck I don't mind riding in the rain. Just as long as it is a fairly warm day. I usually won't start out if it is raining but if it is just the threat of rain, I'll start and usually get wet. On the flip side I'll ride in the rain and I'll ride in the cold but cold + rain no way.

Yes, no one truly enjoys riding in the rain, however it is part of real life motorcycling. If you always avoid the rain, you will never develop the necessary skills, or learn to trust your bike. I have done hundreds of miles in the rain. Sooner or later you run out of it, and all is wonderful again. The cleanup is time consuming, but it is a great opportunity to check every bolt and part on your bike.

Beemervet has it right. It is a part of motorcycling and something that everyone should know how to do without having white knuckles. Even though it is not a lot of fun, after puting a few hours in different weather conditions you become comfortable with it and don't really worry about it if it does happen. Sometimes you just don't have a choice and can't get away from it.
