Riding in the rain don't bother me too much.

But I detest the frickin' road spray thrown up by vehicles.[:@][:@][:@]

If it's just rain I can still see, but that road spray covers everything.

No one likes riding in the rain. The many times I have ridden for lack of a better choice, it was more leisurely and I did enjoy it. A bad day riding is still better than a good day at work!

Wrong,Wrong,Wrong"

My wife and I love to ride in the rain, riding in the rain is the most
wonderful time to be riding a motorcycle. There are sights and smells
you can never see or smell any other time on a motorcycle.

People that won't rain ride don't know what their missing, just like
the riders that won't get up before sun rise and ride the first 4 hours
of the day have no idea what they are missing!

The 2 best times to ride are the first 4 hours from sun rise and when
it is raining (not drizzling that is way to slippery) riders that miss these
2 things have never known how wonderful a motorcycle ride really can
be.

My wife and I were on our Wing pulling our camper in the pouring rain
this Feb. 2006 at 75MPH in 4 lanes of rush hour traffic when we hit
1,000 gallons of oil that was not properly cleaned up from the day before
by the highway department or the city. Needless to say we crashed hard
and no one ran over us in the heavy rush hour traffic. Long story short
we repaired the hitch on the Wing at a welding shop and continued on our
vacation ride in the pouring rain for the next 5 hours with our smashed
up Goldwing, our brused bodies, tore up riding gear inclueding the helmets
and had a great vacation.

My wife and I still love to ride in the rain more then any other weather
conditions. I/we still have no fear at all of riding in the rain after the
wreck. People that fear rain riding or are to lazy to clean their motorcycle
after a rain ride will never know how wonderful a motorcycle ride really
can be.

To us that is a very sad thing!

Each to their own I guess? but still very sad in our opinion"

I used to ride in the rain a lot, but I'll never forget that first time either. the pucker factor was almost too much. I learned that stopping was practically impossible, and I also learned that leaving a couple of car lengths between me and the car in front of me only left room for more cars to cut in front of me. I have been lucky and have never had an accident in the rain, (okay I laid the bike down once) but nothing major, and learned that the safest place for me was n the carpool lane on the freeway going 0 or so with no one in front and no one in back of me. I felt safe there. I always wore a full fac`e in the rain, and used my index finger to wipe all of the rain drops off of my shield. I never had fogging problems as I have a helmet with good venting. It's gets a bit easier after a while, and the looks you get from cars are always priceless. A good rain suit really made a difference for me too. The thing that got me the most was how filthy my bike always got. Yup, once the rain was gone it was alwyas time for a full wash and detail. I wasn't aware that it was possilbe wor a bike to look so shi67y. Whatever you do, keep the rubber side down, and stay on your toes.

I don't mind the rain. I don't go looking for it, but I will ride in it without thinking twice.

I wont ride in the snow though, and I do get nervous for the first couple miles.

Keep your tired inflated, even add a bit more pressure to lessen your footprint and be smooth smooth and more smooth.
Works for me.

I think riding in the rain is an important skill to develop because you never know where you'll be or when it'll hit.
Here's a funny riding in the rain story I had coming back from Canada last year (look at the last paragraph "Spiders and Wind"

One thing's for sure, cleaning the bike after riding in the rain just sucks!

J
Read the story.........Can't picture doing that many miles in 27 hrs on a crotch rocket. My body was aching just reading about it! LOL!

My wife and I got caught in a terrible rain storm once going to a bike run when we had the Sporty. Thank God for overpasses.

I agree about the overpasses! I've also spent time in a hospital lobby when there was nowhere else to turn. Hit a rainstorm in Iowa one day that was just BLACK. Waves of water. CAGES were parked! That was my four hour hospital lobby stay with bad magazines, but I was just glad to be somewhere dry and not in need of the hospital's services.
