Yep - no doubt about it, riding in the rain will take the fun out of motorcycling. Slick roads, auto drivers not paying attention, and the massive cleanup!
I hate rain ridin too. The worst I ever had to do was ride home from Ocean City MD in the pouring rain. Its about a 4 hour trip and the rain made every second of it miserable, not to mention I was on a Sporster.
Sometimes you just don't have a choice. I went on a 3200 mile ride back in May and the first day we left we rode the last 200 miles of that 400 mile day in a downpour. We just put on the rainsuits and rode on, yeah it sucked but as long as you are dressed for it can be done.
Rmarion............funny you should mention it! I left Pt. Mugu (Oxnard) this morning and rode back to Arizona. Had rain from Oxnard to Palm Springs. Hate it! I am glad to be back in Arizona tonight!
I ride everyday. I usually am pretty lucky though about missing the rain. But for those rainy days I suit-up and ride on. Not much traffic on the road when I leave for work so I tend to be the flow of traffic. At work I usually check the radar picture if weather is questionalable and race home in between weather bands. Of course I sometimes miscalculate and get a 30 minute white knuckle ride. As for cleaning that is always a Biach for a daily driver. Enjoy the ride.
