Harley recall brake light switch

Just picked the bike up from break in service last Wednesday, found out about this on Monday, called the stealer and going back in on Friday to have the "kit" put on. Thanks for all the good info, I'da never known about it without all these post.

Replacing switch only is a bogus fix....
My situation with my '09 Ultra is probably a thorn in Harley's side that possibly prompted the final decision to issue a recall. A few months ago in August, mine failed in caught fire. I reported it to the NHTSA and Harley replaced the switch at my local dealer. There's a lot more to it, phone calls back and forth with them, complaining very vigorously to Harley, etc. Recognizing replacing just the switch isn't enough, I fabricated and installed a 20 gauge steel heat-shield and even sent Harley a packet with pics, etc. Don't care if they use it or not, but fact remains -- as others have said -- there ain't any switch on the planet (short of something heat-sinked) that's going to resist failing again over time, because it's simply too close to the exhaust.
