I installed the push button option but removed it because I am always afraid some kid is going to put dirt or sugar in my tank. The key is a pain to use but I don't have to worry about some jerk making my life miserable by adding junk in my tank.

Push button and new cover were the 1st accessorys I bought the day I picked up the bike. My first Harley, and I hate carrying keys. Have 8000 miles with no problems.

I have one on my Ultra. Easy install and works good. I hated the key lock too, the push button is much better.

Good luck.

Best mod for the money IMO. I think they changed the part some and may have fixed the failures some are talking about. I've had mine about a year and no complaints.

I wonder how many of those who make fun of using a key every 200miles:
a: ride in the cold (heavy gloves, and oops the keys in pants inside overpants)
b: 200 miles is every other day 365 days a year.

junk- I've had 2 fall apart-- one at home--- the other 800 miles away with a near empty tank --which is when you will find out.

the linkage mechanism is held in place with a brass set pin which can vibrate out and the center fall, leaving the latch in the notch

but when they go AS THEY ALL DO!!!! they go at the worst time

I bought the locking one, of course it fell apart and wouldn't let me in.

I used a butter knife to pop it while holding button in.

Ordered a new lock today for my FLTR, Harley has a newer number, I guess because the older ones were crap.

I installed one as well. However, the damn button rattles. I may reinstall my key lock.
