I am looking at an 06 Road King Custom w/1600 miles for $14,800. The bike is clean w/warranty until 05/08, never dropped/wrecked. I know used prices drop during the colder season but does sound like a deal I should jump on? At first I thought it was one of those too good of a deal bikes but after looking at it in person I can't find anything wrong. I plan to take the VIN to the HD shop to verify the warranty. I have owned several HD's over the years but have stayed away the past few years because of the dealer pricing schemes. Thought I would not own another but of all my bikes the one most enjoyed was an 87 FLH standard. Maybe it's time to come home.
That is a sweet deal, but with Harley making so many new bikes now, the price on the used bikes has dropped considerably. Its good if you want to buy a used bike but if your trading one in, your going to take a beating.
I have not ridden any of the touring models with the standard 13" air shocks, so I cannot compare; but I thought the ride was OK-not great, but not bad. After reading a lot of peoples opinions, I thought maybe the ride was not too good after all when compared to the other models. Well, I eventually installed 11.5" progressive 440 shocks and the ride was BETTER than the 12" HD air shocks (even with the less travel)! So, if you have ridden the other touring bikes I would bet you will notice the difference.
$13,900 for a 2006 RoadKing custom is a steal. If you like it, get it now. I found a deal on a '06 streetglide, low miles, all the goodies for $15K and while i was debating whether or not i should buy it, it was sold. I looked for a similar deal for 4 months around here and the cheapest I could find here was $18K so I ended up buying new. Don't make the same mistake I did. If you like the bike get it before someone else does.
I just picked up a 2006 RK Classic for 13.600. It has the SE stage 1 kit and backrests for the rider and passenger and about 2400 dollars worth of extra HD add ons. The guy bought in March picked it up brand new in May and only put 2900 miles on it. He wouldn't ride if it looked like rain or dropped below 60 degrees. He called me last week and said come pick it up, I told him with a daughter in college in CA I didn't have a lot of money to put down on it and he told me to take over the payments and it was mine. I'll add a pic for your viewing enjoyment.
