Okay, I'm one of the vertically challenged Harley Riders. I have a 2011 FLHTCU and have had installed the HD front end lowering kit, the HD lower rear shocks and a custom made Corbin Dual Touring Saddle that is setup as a close reach, thinned nose section and altered to allow for the installation of the HD passenger grab rails. Even with all this done I feel the stock handlebars give me too high of a center of gravity and not enough leverage on the bike to feel steady as I'm coming to a stop when riding 2up.
I'd like to install a handlebar that has a much lower rise and more pullback or same pullback but with an extended reach. By getting my hands lower I'll feel a lower center of gravity (probably more psychological) but I'll will have more leverage on holding the bike upright when at a standstill.
Has anyone done this yet and if so could you recommend what bars you used?
I think you have your leverage backwards. This bike is heavy as hell and the factory low bars give no leverage at all. I just put Santee 11" Apes on and I too am height challenged. The bike feels 300lbs lighter. Way easier to get on and lift off the jiffy stand.
