Dead bike? I bet it was a hit on Halloween! Ohhhhh!
That's exactly what happened to me when my battery gave up. I could wait a moment and the lights and all would come on but as soon as I hit the starter button, it all went dark. I pushed my Glide up to the top of the parking lot at the Home Depot to try and roll start it. NOT! Sad I know.
I had a friend come jump start me and follow me to the house. Lucky to have a couple of those! I've come when they called as well.
I had that happen a time or two. I pulled the seat off and took a wrench to the terminals. It was good to go in minutes. You just never know what it will take. A loose connection will not hold an electrical load.
S-I-L bike did the same thing it had been sitting for awhile. we had rode for about 50 miles the stopped wouldnt start just click. WTF. checked the battery conections tight oh crap sudden battery death. I put the seat on it was on alittle hill I put the bike in 3rd gear. he gave me alittle push it rolled about 10 feet I dump the clutch and It was alive we rode home about 40 miles. when he got ready to leave it started right up. Go figure?
Some times these things just happen, I have an 09 ultra and I was 200 miles from home and stopped for gas shut it off and filled , started it pulled away from the pump to meet with other guys and went to leave no start. tried several times no luck, rocked it in gear , no luck , checked connections , no luck, tried four more times talked to other riders and tried again , started that was with 4,000 miles on the bike now have 41,000 miles and has never happened again.
Checked battery, fuses, relays, connection everything ok. Notice when i turn ignition switch, neutral light flashed. Flipped switch a few times. Its alive! Now i have to find out what in the switch caused this. could be dirty contacts.
