Default Compression test with Compression releases

I am doing my 10k service on my 2005 Ultra. The service manual suggests doing a compression test. I want to do the test to get a baseline on the compression. The bike has the 96 kit with compression releases. My plan is to take out the plugs, take out the EFI fuse and unplug the coil, then open the throttle and crank. What do I do about the compression releases?

Thanks
Tbell

When I did mine the manual said to unplug them from the harness on top of the throttle body. Worked fine for me.

if they are manual, do nothing, if they are automatic, disconnect them from power.

Welcome to HDF, from the UK. I assume you normally press your releases in when starting, for them to do their job? When the engine fires they release and the engine runs normally.

When testing for compression don't press them in. Your battery may have to work harder than normal, to turn the engine over, but it should be fine for your test.

Take out the plugs, plug them back in and ground them; no need to do any more. As has been pointed out, no need to do anything with the CRs. Do make sure your battery si fully charged in order to get good readings. A weak batter will not produce accurate results.

Getting a baseline is a good idea; record it for future reference.
