Sometime, it is not fair to blame on the dealer (owner), the mech guy is the one fx'ed up thing. It is better to have a good relationship with the dealer by talking to the service manager, or even better to work with just one guy that you've known at the dealer. No perfect dealer anyway!
Just my 2 cents!

Just recieved my recall notice for the rear brake switch today. It's gonna have to wait till spring now, never had a problem with it so far though.

News travels much faster today than it did years ago and with the internet we hear about things almost before the people involved do. That said I got a call from the selling dealership and one from the dealership where I am a HOG member, I have gotten it fixed and I have had two go bad and I don't have a cat. I have not yet received a formal notice from Harley but I have no doubt that I will, I received one on the tank issue.

The service advisor at the dealer said, I needed the recall notice to get the work done. He said, they didn't have the new switches in yet.

My buddy hangs at the dealer more than I do and he found out they changed the switches on the showroom bikes first.

Still waiting for the notice and the switch arrival.

You don't need the recall notice to get the work done.
The dealer has access to any notices that are required for your bike.

With that said, of course they can't complete the work if they don't have any switches yet.
But with what they have already told you, I wouldn't put too much trust in that dealer.

You do not need the notice to have the recall done on your bike. I gave my local dealer a call last week without the notice and my bike was done yesterday Saturday. All I did was give them the VIN to my bike and checked on their system for the recalls....

I went to my dealer after I heard about the recall and they put me on the list, I was number 23. They are waiting on the parts to come in.

Got my letter on Saturday. That was the first I'd heard about it.
