I love the new 2012 SG low profile rear brake pedal position, I'm a disabled vet and have never been able to lift my legs to use the rear brake without using my hands to give lift support under my knees. Muscles were talken from upper inside thighs to put knees back together. My other bikes pedals have been to tall. This new SG I can lift my ankle without aid and actually reach the pedal so I can use it. I still have to lift my legs to use the hwy pegs on each side so today I have the hwy pegs level with the floorboards so I can just slide my legs over on them. Kickstand in a better place too real easy for me to get to. Love the new ride!
Also try the highway pegs about an inch aboove the boards and about 1.5 " out. That placed mine where I could prop my toes onto the or slide my foot on top of them. That might be a good combo for you.
I hear what you are saying and glad you found a way to enjoy riding.
While not a serious as your's I can relate. Got shot in the ankle during a robbery with a 308. The bones powered so to speak and healed into basically one solid bone. Thanks to the placement of the brake on ECG I don't have to turn my foot inboard to operate it. Just a slight lift of my foot and it's right there.
Congrats and thanks for your service and sacrifice.
