Took my 07 FLHTC to my dealer for a small oil leak under bike. After it was "fixed" I noticed the next day there was still a small amount of oil on the garage floor. I also noticed some damage on my bike that was not there when I dropped the bike off. I contacted the dealer and told him of the damage to my bike and that the oil leak was not fixed. I brought the bike back and left it for 2 days. They fixed the damage on the bike to the tune of 750.00 and degreased the underside of the engine of all residual oil. After bringing the bike home again, oil leak still exactly the same. What should my next move be - take it back again or is it time to contact HD customer service ??? Please, any advice or thoughts on this problem will be greatly appreciated. The oil leak appears only after I ride the bike and it sits for a few minutes - then a small amount of oil is under the front of the bike. ???
they charged you $750 for damage that wasnt there before you took it in? WTF?! I would definately talk to the service manager and /or the general manager to get the leak resolved.
If you have been dealing with the service manager, then go up one level & speak with the general manager. The service dept will check your bike out top to bottom to look for damage that is already there when they first get your bike. As you have learned, you should be giving your bike a top to bottom inspection before you take it back from the service dept. Otherwise they can say that you did the damage.
Wow!!! you got lucky there! i know it doesnt take much to get to $750 with these bikes, but how the H@$$ did they mess it up? glad you got that fix by them. so they should have no problem getting them to find and fix the leak. good luck!
They ate the 750.00 - I did not pay a dime... They admitted (reluctantly) to damaging the bike and fixed it ...
So .... they fixed the damage but the oil leak is still there, correct? Take it to another dealer and explain that you've already had a dealer look at it and they couldn't/didn't fix it. I'd also let that dealer know that the other dealer damaged the bike while trying to fix the leak, just so they know.
