I have been told by some of my buddys that to get to 103 all
that is needed on an 07 is the top end.
Is this right and is it worth it?
What is the cost of this kind of upgrade.

Is it worth it? you have to decide. Find out the cost/benefit and see if you want to dish out the cash for the extra TQ/HP. If you do the work yourself, you should be able to save $, but make sure you choose the right cam on your build, it will make or break the results!
I know a top end job with substancial results for an 88 to 95" could be done for $1500, just ask Maineultraclassic and see his posts. Should be relatively similar to an '07 as far as costs.
I have the 1690 Stage II kit on my 07 Street Glide. I am not sure when I will be able to post numbers. I intend to get a dyno run as she is now. 1690 Stage II with stock pipes. I want to have this sheet to compare with my numbers after I get pipes. I am not sure when I will get pipes. I am still debating which pipes to go with. I will be posting just have no dates yet.
I never rode the 96" I had the 103" put on before I picked up the bike.
That is correct. To get to 96c.i., Harley used the same stroke as the 103 (4 3/8") and the same bore as the standard twin cam 88. By increasing the bore to what was a 1550 (3 7/8") you now have a 103 with no case mod's. Simple as a top end. I have done 2 already and they run great. Will post dyno number when broke in is complete.
I also had the 1690 stage II installed on my 07 SG. I just picked it up last night and can definitely notice the difference. I had about 800 miles on the 96" engine.
The 103kit makes about the same #s as an evo motor w/head work. Not that great considering the dispalcement inctrease.Using that kit w/better cams would give you the #s it should make. But then you would be into warranty dispute.I think head work on a 96 w/better cams would eat the stock 103 kit.
Go with the 103", you'll love it. I would look at after market cams, HD cams just don't produce the power you want or perform well in the riding area (RPM) range

What would you (or anyone else) recommmend. I'm leaning towards Andrews 37H cams, boring the stock jugs and Kieth Black hypertec pistons. I'm looking for low and mid range touque. Doing the labor myself I figure under $500, I already already have D&D Muffs and Big Sucker Total cost @ $900. I figure 95hp, 100+ touque.
