Cruise control cuts out

What year is your bike? Is it covered by the current rear brake switch recall? And have you had the recall service performed?
There are many possibilities, but the rear brake switch covered in the recall seems to be a common cause from what I've read.

If your bike is a 2010 SG then it is included in the recall. Call your dealer and have them run your VIN or check it yourself on the HD website. Get the switch replaced for free under the recall and your problem will likely be solved.

Same problem on my 07 Ultra. Sensor on the throttle return cable, next to the frame in front of the tank. I would adjust the cable and fix it for a few weeks, finely replaced the cable and sensor. No more problem.

the bike i have now did the samething i plugged my laptop into my thundermax the codes said the cruise control switch was bad. took it to my dealer and they replaced the enable switch done no more issues. the switches can go bad with no warning.

If you have a PCV installed and are also losing your 6th gear indicator at the same time the cruise cuts out, do a search for 'no 6th gear indicator & no cruise control' You will find a few threads telling you what to change on your PCV.

Try disconnecting the roll off switch that Sobric mentioned - takes about two seconds. If the cruise works you know it's either the switch or the throttle return cable misadjusted. Just remember you no longer can use the throttle to disconnect the cruise, but either brake will still disconnect it, as will the clutch if you don't mind over reving the engine.
