If you go to an S and S backplate the bracket you took off and discarded is needed again because the SE backplate screws right through the backplate into the breather holes using the jugs to bolt the SE backplate to the engine.
Switch to S and S or some other backplate and you need that bracket or the weight of the new air cleaner without that stock bracket will cause the new backplate to sag down. Worse case causing an intake leak. Got it?
Ps- if you ever need this bracket again go to any hd dealer. Every time they install a screaming eagle backplate they throw the bracket your looking for in the garbage.
I took a hacksaw to my bracket and cut the ears off so I could remount it after installing the SE air cleaner. I have the acr's and the acr wires clip to it so they don't just flop around and it also helps hide the wires under the tank.
