Question Should I?

My classic has a tad over 40k on her. Rear brakes need replacing as well as the disc. Should I do the caliper also? I know why not do it all.

What do you want to do on the caliper?

They can get pretty ugly inside all it is is quad "O" rings so it should not cost much. Especially if you never changed fluid?

I think it depends… When it comes to break fluid I always look more at things like; is the fluid old or have you changed it a couple of times, do you live in a high humidity area, drive in the city a lot, etc. My point is this; If I bought a bike new and put a bunch of miles on it in the first year, live in the desert area(which I do), all highway miles then I probably wouldn’t worry about it so much. If you fall under the less desirable category then I would inspect the pistons, etc. and consider rebuilding the caliber or swapping it out, if required. As with anything on the bike, inspect the components and go from there. If it needs replaced then replace, in the end it’s your bike, money/time, your call…

If it works why not just put a new pads and rotor on?

Clean the pistons well. At 40k the caliper should be fine.
