Default Going nuts!

It's been almost 3 months now since the accident. I have been going through physical therapy and at the moment am about 85% recovered. I was lucky I did't get seriously injured or worse.

My wife bought me a new bell for the new bike. When I get to go and get it is still undetermined because I still need to settle. While she was at the dealership she was talking with the apparel lady and she told about a few weeks prior to my accident her and her husband were out riding when this kid in a Camero pulled from behind another car and she watched her husband get hit head on at about 70 MPH. He is still alive but really messed up and will likely never ride again. So I do know how lucky I am.

BUT!!! It is still driving me nuts that I can't ride! My lawyer says that I have to get back to 100% or as close as possible before we will settle. We have had some pretty decent riding days that I have missed out on because my bike is gone. The whole thing sucks to nth level.

I want my bike back!

Stick in there. If you decided to use a attorney for his help, ya better listen to his advise.

Going through the same symptoms here BD..... Mid Sept my wife and I were riding
through downtown Lake Placid, NY when a young kid ran a red light at a
4 way intersection.
Both my wife and I walked away from this.... damn lucky !!!!
I have a lawyer in NY, and am now waiting for the surgeon to look at MRI and x-ray disks to determine if surgery is needed.
P/T twice a week to work on the top 3 vertebra in my neck, then will
concentrate on my shoulder.
3 cracked ribs, 3 vertebra locked together, 2 torn ligaments between my
shoulder and neck, and a partially dislocated shoulder.
Sure did put a crimp in our 4 day weekend ride through the Adirondacks !!!!

The driver of the passenger van was driving for the US Olympic Committee,
with 12 athletes on board..... his first day on the job.

We'll see what next spring brings.... if we have lost the desire to ride,
we'll sell the bike and move on with life. Its not the end of the world.

After three months I was ready to ride. My dealer misappropriated the money I gave them to fix my bike because they were in financial trouble. I wrecked May 29 and didn't get my bike back until a week before Christmas. I thought I would go nuts or to jail as I was getting very belligerent in the dealership. It really sucks after going through all the pain of a wreck and recovery, you get screwed by some lousy dealer. I was so happy to see them go out of business a month after I got my bike back.

I understand what you are going through. In May of 2006 I was involved in an accident, a woman made a left in front of me. I suffered a shattered Pelvis, took 6 months to heal and missed the entire riding season.
Fast forward, Two months ago I fractured my ankle while playing golf (slipped on an acorn) I guess Golf is a more dangerous sport than I ever realized! LOL! Needless to say I haven't been able to ride and currently the weather has been beautiful but by the time I heal it will be cold.

A little patience now will pay dividends later. You don't want to rush your rehab. Get back to 100% so you can fully enjoy your new bike when the time comes. I know it's hard, but just keep thinking about how much better riding will be for you when you're back to normal. Being crippled for the rest of your life won't help your mindset at all.

Not meaning to make fun of your situation, but I would have loved to be somewhere in the doctor's office when you explained how you broke your ankle. Not to mention all the other places you've been and having to explain that.

Hang in there man, you are doing fine! There will be plenty of ride-time after you get back to full spec. Glad you are on the mend! Don't rush it and listen to your attorney. Sometimes you never know what kind of residual or ancillary issues might arise as time goes on. Best of luck mate!
