So my bike is fuel injected and clearly when I power on the bike and hit "run" I have to wait for that light to go off before starting the bike. No issues there.
However, the past 2 days I have noticed that AFTER starting it that light comes back on for a couple of seconds and then goes off again.
Historic code? It just seems like it happens occasionally and stays on for just a couple of seconds after starting and goes off and doesn't come back on.
Could it be because the bike ran out of gas the other day?
A historic (stored) code is a DTC (diagnostic trouble code) that is stored on your bikes ECM (computer). If your bikes check engine light comes on and stays on it means that there is a current problem and needs to be checked out. If the light comes on and then goes back off, it means that there was a trouble code, but the conditions went away and are no longer present. Either code can be retreaved.

just for future reference, you do not have to wait until the light goes out before starting the bike. just give the fuel system a sec to pressurize and the ecu to reset and you'll be fine.
