Trailer question??
Mikeeeeeeeeee,
On your 6X10 how are you placing your two baggers? I am looking for a trailer for a RK and a Heritage Classic. I was thinking I would need to go to a 7X.

If you do find a trailer built to haul two baggers make sure it has a double axle system under it. A one axle trailer just isn't strong enough to handle two big bikes weighing almost 1600 pounds. Add the bikes weight to the weight of the trailer itself and you are at or over the maximum rating of most trailer axles.

I have a Classic Trailer that I bought from Atlantic Coast Trailers which may not be very far from you. If nothing else consider a "V" nose trailer for it aerodynamics.

I have been thinking of picking up a bike trailer. A friend has a nice open 2 bike trailer that is just about new. He is asking a grand for it???. What is a good make of trailer for towing my bikes? Do you like the covered type? I know that the price can vary but what is the going rate for a good 2 bike unit. Do you like new or used?

Believe it or not, a covered trailer properly designed is much easier to pull then an open trailer. Several things that weren't mentioned though that I was suggest looking at is something with trailer brakes! I've had some harrowing experiences trekking around the Rocky Mountains, and was extremely glad that I had trailer brakes at the time! I know you will hear a lot of people say that you really don't need them, personally though I'm a trailer brake fan. the other thing is to watch the suspension most of the commercial covered trailers made today actually do very well in that respect. you do need a good set of biased belted tires, and a forgiving set of leaf springs. All of this makes high speed towing a breeze, and also prevents the bike from being jostled around. the last option I would recommend it fits within your budget, his sway bars. It just makes towing a little easier on your vehicle, especially in areas of high crosswinds. You can always add those on later, if you think you need them.
Trailer brakes are a great idea but hard to find on smaller trailers. If a person has the bucks it can be added easily later, as I've done both surge & elec. add ons. I prefer torsion axles over leaf. Sway bars are only needed on the larger trailers and do work very well. I also prefer the higher load rated trailer tires and not car tires. On long hauls carry two spares. Nothing worse than having to leave your trailer behind on the road to get a tire fixed!

all of the suggestions that where posted here have all been very good. I too would recommend a covered trailer.

I started with a 6X10 open trailer. Finally got an enclosed and works great. I get same mileage with enclosed as the open trailer. Seems like the open trailer pulls harder. Enclosed is good for security too.
Bryan, you were great to deal with, too. And the trailer has worked very well for us. Like you said it would be, it is the most stable trailer we have ever pulled. Beats that Pace all to pieces.
Now, we need a little more room since Johnny's oldest girl is now racing a junior dragster, too. You building trailers anymore???
Tell Toni hello for me. You still at the same location? I may have to stop by, next time I'm up there.
Yall have a Merry Christmas, too!!!
