Trailer question??
I have been thinking of picking up a bike trailer. A friend has a nice open 2 bike trailer that is just about new. He is asking a grand for it???. What is a good make of trailer for towing my bikes? Do you like the covered type? I know that the price can vary but what is the going rate for a good 2 bike unit. Do you like new or used?
Bought a used Haulmark 6'x10' enclosed with a RV type AC unit mountd on top.

My buddy just picked up a covered one for $1500, all setup for 1 bike. That was used. Open is alright so long as weather isnt to bad and big rigs are not kicking up road debris...................
I have a single-bike open trailer by Aluma. It's all aluminum, weighs about 300 lbs, and is easy to handle by myself. It's very stable behind the truck and easy to load. I bought mine like new/used for $1200. The open trailers obviously will protect the bike more, but their greatest advantage is security if you are staying in a hotel overnight. I went with the open rig because I just don't have room in the driveway for a larger closed rig.
I have a 7X16 inclosed. I bought it used for $2600.00 if ya keep watching you can find them a little cheaper. When I was shopping there was a trailer dealer near Ronoke, VA selling 7X14 with a ramp door around $3400.00 (new) I thought that was a good price. Just watch the ramp doors, the cheaper ones dont have the extra support and wont hold the weight of the heavy bikes. and the ply wood thickness is less

I'd strongly suggest an enclosed for many reasons. Protection, security, storage of extra gear, and I even use mine as a camper once the bike is rolled out. A great place to sit & drink beer with your buds if the weather turns to $hit & can't ride.
