I installed a BMW-style power port on the left side heat deflector. Easy to reach with the clutch hand, and keeps the cord out of the way.

Most heated gear regardless of manufacturer come with wiring harness and on/off switch and pretty simple to connect.

I installed the permanent mount controller on the front of my bike. The ports are installed on the heat shield. The port to plug the passenger portable controller is mounted in the rear speaker housing.

That 's a really nice installation Rickpeg. What did you use for the power source? And did you just drill and push the stock connectors on the heat shield?

I plug the warm and safe heat troller into the battery tender plug. Do this on three other bikes and use the 3m dual lock velcro dots to attach the control. Pic of the cop bike.

If you're going to run heated gear for 2 people, just keep an eye on the electrical demand from the heated gear, and the electrical capacity on the bike. Gerbing has a listing of the electrical demand for each of the items.

If you get the Gerbing stuff from a Harley Dealer, they have a book that spells out exactly how much of the heated gear you can run on each Harley model and year. Or, you can do the research at the dealer, and then order from Gerbing.

Default Wire routing

I run the hardwire from the battery to the split in the seat in front of the passenger. I can tuck it down in the warm weather and it's easy to get at when I need it. It doesn't interfere with the backrest. No need to cut or drill anywhere on the bike. I like the installation in the dash but find there are times that I want different heat settings on top and bottom with my dual controller. Using the clip pouch on the jacket belt works fine for me and reduces additional wiring headed to the dash mounted controller FWIW.

On another forum someone posted that they also use this plug for their battery tender. That's a good idea.
