Default Fairing speakers

I have a 09 street glide that im going to be changing out the stock speakers with aftermarket. I already have the Rockford 300 amp all ready to go, all I have to do is pick out some speakers. I have been researching this site & the internet for about 3 months now and the more I research i do the more confused I get!!!

I'm a fan of the J&M 7.25's -- Blogged about it in depth here if you're bored: http://www.johnscrip.com/html/blog_f...25speakers.php

You'll just have to listen to a few set of speakers at a bike night or in the parking lot of a dealership when it gets warmer. I like the 6.5 inch Hertz Titan speaker.

I had hawg wired $180 5.25 speakers in first. I then put $75 Polk dxi-650 6.5's in. Sound quality and bass improved. Then I put in $150 Polk mm-651 6.5's. Measured and listened and could not tell any difference. Measurements were anywhere from +/- 1 to 2 dbs. So with that said the $75 dxi's went back in and the $150 MM's got returned.

IMO I would now have to try at least a $300 pair of speakers to maybe get at least a 3 db increase in the bass region and better quality sound and then I may have to get more than a 60 watt amp.

So I am happy where I am at now. But if money is not a problem get the most expensive Focal speakers and the highest wattage amp and your done.

LoBoy, I like your avatar, but the angle is a little bit off.

I've compared lots of speakers. The real world quality, efficiency and sound of the Polk 6.5 marine speakers is hard to beat. I tried hogtunes, Alpine (close match) and Pioneer. I wasted money buying and trying and not being satisfied until I got the Polk Audio speakers. There are others that are more expensive but they don't necessarily sound better. $60. On sale. You asked for opinions and now you have two votes for Polks.

I was thinking about going with either Polks or Rockfords.

The camera needs to move a little to the left.

Either Polk or Focal 6.5 Most people look at watts which is important but you want to make sure the sensitivty is at least 90dB or above. I just got the Focal's and replacing the Polks.
