Default Remapping an ECM on a 2006 FLHTCUSE

Good day, Riders.

A question to those that know; "Can the electronic control module on a 2006 FLHTCUSE be remapped?"

The reason I ask this question is because last spring I put a new intake and exhaust system on my bike and asked the most knowledgeable service tech to "remap" the ECM. After some investigation; he informed that there was no map available for that year and style of bike. Last night I was told by other HD mechanics that they can upload a new map into the ECM. They are telling me that they will upload a 103 cu in map into my bike (96 cu in) and that will cause the bike to run cooler because the the richer Air/Fuel ratio.

What I need to know is; "Can an upload like this be done and will it have the desired affects?"

Thanks and

Ride In Peace

You put a new intake and exhaust system on last spring and you are just now asking this question? Have you rode the bike any since you opened-up the air flow? Are you saying that the dealer cannot perform a Stage I flash for your bike?

If you have done nothing more than add an air cleaner and mufflers, then forget using a dealer to remap your ECM. So nobody at your dealerships even offered a stage I flash for your ECM? Thanks kinda odd sounding to me. Certainly the bike probably needs something to prevent an overly lean condition, but you don't have to mess with a dealer to solve that problem.

Call our forum sponsor Fuel Moto and discuss with them. I (and others) could offer you some options, but it's what they do every day and they will be able to customize a solution for you.

You can remap your ECM with the TTS Masrtertune software. I like it because you use your ECM and dont have another box hanging off your bike.

t059736, a couple thoughts. Loading a canned map is a crap shoot to start with but loading a canned map for a larger displacement and different configuration than your bike, is just a horrible suggestion by a "HD Mechanic" or anyone for that matter, don't allow them to do that to your bike. Your 2006 Delphi EFI does not employ O2 sensors, so it doesn't make the subtle AFR adjustments under operation in varried conditions. It also does not have the ability to give you feed back for Vtuning with a TTS or SERT, whatever fuel management manipulation device you go with, it will require the assistance of a Dyno or a stand alone O2 datlogging system in order to tune it. I have an 06 also that I tuned with a PC III and Twin Scan Wego, which I have to run a summer and winter map, becuase the the system is just plain limited in how well it adapts to temperature changes, and it will get dangerously lean in the winter running on the summer map. I am looking for a new fuel management alternative which does employ O2 sensors. Granted my final tune condition goal is very different from most, you might want to consider a system which does use O2 sensors. They are expensive but you don't need to pay for dyno time, if you make any changes in the future they will actually be cheaper in the long run. You have many options, some better than others, it really comes down to pay a lot now or pay alot later.

Thanks guys, great feedback.

I have contacted Fuel Moto; I believe after reading for 6 months - they are my best option.

And you are right - The Stealership is trying to do me again - NOT gonna happen.
