OP if you've never ridden anything with more than 65ish hp then you prob will be ok with a stage 1. The bike will def run better and cooler but you wont win many races.

I have owned bikes that made125hp and spent time on a bagger that made 130/130 and I am pretty impressed with my 79/99 stage 1bagger. My last bike was built a little stouter but pretty impressed with my stage 1. Maybe one that is not tts master tuned would not be so enjoyable.

It's the Harley tax. The bare minimum. The way your bike should have come from the factory, but didn't.

I guess I just have "The need for sreed" more so than others. For me I just wasnt happy until I got cams and a race tuner. MT your probably right, that tuner makes the difference.

based on the build in your signature, which may be out dated, a stage 1 103 is at least as good if not better according to many that I have seen. Has your sig bike and/or build has been updated to more hipo? I usually like to hop things up right away but on this one after a year and 16,000 miles i am still satisfied with the stage 1.

the type of exhaust chosen is a factor, true duals will deliver perhaps less power than a 2 into 2 or a 2 into 1.
But you should notice more power from stock, and as miles pile up and tolerances in the motor ease, then will be less power consumed by friction, and delivered to the rear wheel.
You will also notice a much different sound, not only from the pipes, but also the intake.
No "break in" as no hard motor parts are changed, but if you notice any uneven running, back firing, popping etc. you should bring that to the notice of the shop.

True Duals and 2 into 2 are the same thing.

Generally you will lose some bottom end torque with duals. I did. Got some of it back, not all, when I installed Supertrapps.

Well yesterday it got into the 30's and I had to ride. The sound of the bike was immediately apparent. Much louder under acceloration, but I think actually quieter at cruise. It did seem to have more torque around town. Went great down the highway, but I could not talk my wife into coming with so I do not know if it made much of a difference with the bike loaded 2 up.
Overall it was not a HUGE difference, but better. Since it was just above freezing I could not tell about the heat issue. I will have to get a bettter read on that next summer.

No my sig is correct for that bike. My 05 with the 95 kit has a lot more. The folks around here with the stage one 103s evidently didnt get the increase that you did because my 88 will embarass them, especially from stoplight to stoplight. Of course most of the locals insist going to the closest stealer and their abilities are questionable. The 103s have more torque than mine so in a gear for gear roll on mine isn't as impressive. I just think if i'd upgraded to a 103, then dropped the coin on a stage 1, I would expect to outperform an 88ci by a pretty large margin.
