So, It sounds like the problems that most are running into is the bottom where it clamps together has a gap, as you can see from my pics, my gap is around the headlight. As marked in the attached photo.
Is this the normal place most are having issues with? Is there a fix, or do I have to decide if I can live with it, or return it?
I just went out to the garage and looked at mine. I have the same visor trim rings as well. And it is the same as your picture shows with the gaps around the light. I really do not give it much thought as it looks fine and doesn't really look out of place. Really didn't think about it until I read your post.

Thanks for looking at yours, At least now I know it's normal.
It bothers me, I just need to figure out if I can live with it. The amount you pay for this stuff, you would think it should be a perfect fit.

Another reason why I laugh at those trying to sell a bike with XXXX amount of money in chrome invested on their bike!
For the most part fit and quality sux!
That being said......I have the same gap!!
My trim ring looks just like yours, I got it to fit better by loosening the stock trim ring a little putting on the new one tightening the new one down to seat it better then removing the bolt and making the stock ring snug by tightening it between the gap in the new ring then I put the bolt back for the visor ring. Made it fit a lot better for me anyway. If you want the gap gone between the lens and ring get a truck lite LED when I installed mines it makes that gap disappear, so theres your excuse for a LED headlight get to ordering.
I just put mine on yesterday, and it is the same as yours. I did a lot of checking, and it is not going back completely flush and filling the gap because the back of the ring hits the front of the fairing.
As near as I can tell, there is not much that can be done about it. I took mine off and on several times trying for a solution. I finally decided that it looked good and I got on to installing other Christmas parts.
I couldn't get rid of the gap at the bottom,,so I got rid of the stock ring,,,put sticky back foam on the new ring,,,worked great fits nice and no gap,,,
I had the same problem with mine. It laid in the garage for over a year and I desided to try it one more time. Still could not get the gap to close, tried everything. Then I came upon an idea that worked. I had some putty tape, like you would use to seal a hole around a pipe joint. Comes in a roll. sticky, rubbery. I rolled some to that into a 1/4" roll and placed it inside the trim ring, where it would fit onto the ring that holds the headligth bulb. Removed the original trim ring, put Visor Trim ring on and tightened it up! Gap closed, gap at back edge of trim ring closed , fits great no rattles. Problem solved.
You can try out all the solutions found here and on other similar threads, or do as I did, Take the POS back. All they are really good for is collecting bugs anyway.
