Default Looking for some input

Hey guys,

I spent some time a the dealer today talking to a mechanic that I really respect and this is the plan we came up with for my 2012 SG.

255 cams, decat, dyno tune. I have already done the intake and pipes.

It seems that according to some of the posts I have read and people I have talked to that this is a great approach for the biggest bang for the buck. I want to have a pretty flat torque curve in the lower end to the mid RPM range for a strong pull all the way up to the 5k range.

What do you all think? Am I on the right track?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Default Check Dyno Posts

I like where you are going; the only thing you didn't mention and maybe you've done it already is check out all the dyno sheets you can find posted with similar components to see what results to expect. Also look at dyno sheets with different cams that have the same results you are seeking. You may find a cam set that delivers a bit longer 'under the curve' results than the 255s.
Just a suggestion and free advice that is worth what you paid....

That is what the Doctor orders. Personally I don't think you need the cams, should be a stump puller if you do !

That's exactly what I've done to mine. We just did the Cams last Friday, and I went for a good 75 mile ride yesterday, and it's allot of fun to ride now The Cams made a HUGE difference.

Just to help confuse you further. Here is my dyno on a 2011 limited 103
using a woods cam 777, hi five a/c, tts mastertune , stock headers. . I think I got a pretty good curve out of this setup. As for the cam . I like the way it handles the bike all the way to redline.

Personally I prefer to stay with HD developed parts. Not trying to start a war just stating personal preference. Forget horsepower it's torque you're after with a Street Glide. That is what a set of 255s will do for your motor. Mine pulls like a freight train to around 5000 rpm. Your bike should have acr's already so the mods will be simple enough without breaking the bank. Hope this helps.

Thank you for all the replies guys!

I think I am going to run it up to the shop today.

HAKOGS, I really like the looks of your dyno test. Your torque curve is right where I am looking to be. Thanks for confusing me a little more ;-).

Aclazer, I am glad you were around for this post. It is nice to hear from someone that has the setup I am proposing and can give real feedback on it. Thanks!

I guess I am going to pull the trigger on it today. Get this project off the ground. Thank you for the replies and the input. I will post the dyno sheet when I get her all done!

JT.

I got a text from my mechanic yesterday afternoon as he was taking it OFF the dyno to tell me how it turned out... Dam I was hoping to be there when he did it but oh well.

Anyway I dont have the sheet yet to post but in his text he said he was getting 90hp and 110Tq!!!!! The stock 103 yields 65hp and 82Tq so I am pretty happy with the gains V/S the cost. Now I just have to hope like hell the weather man is right and Ill be seeing 50+ weather by the end of next week so I can go for a little putt.

I will post the dyno sheet when I get the bike back. Thanks for the replies.
