Default installed SE stage 1 A/C and...

First 2011 FLHRC...I followed the directions and removed the metal support bracket. It had a plastic piece that was mounted to the bracket securing some of the wiring. The instructions said to discard the metal bracket but didn't mention the additional plastic piece. I couldn't see how this would be of any further use so I didn't reuse it. Was I missing something or did I get it right? 3000 miles away from home and it hits me now to ask the peeps that would know! I think I have to order another Guinness and ponder some more as I wait for replies...

not sure if would do any harm but I would use the plastic piece to secure the wiring if it doesn't cause any binding problem

most of the time dealer tech's just leave the plastic piece hanging and no one notices. some have used the metal piece you mentioned and cut the ears off of it and mount the plastic piece back onto it.
I, like you, take the logical approach over an adult refreshment and ponder the outcome
until I have forgotten what I'm pondering.

You know what I think. They should include a new bracket with the SE Air Cleaner. If the original designers thought enough to include the bracket on the bike to begin with, then why didn't the designers of the SE Air Cleaner do the same?

It's not that big of a deal, but it does seem to me that good engineering discipline would have some method to tie-down those wires/connectors rather than just leave them flapping in the breeze.

I made a bracket from a scrap of aluminum angle to replace the original when I installed my SE Air Cleaner. Others have also simply modified the original bracket.
