Knowledge needed, Opinions PLEASE!
I agree with some and disagree with others opinions, but from experience if youre wanting a streetglide look than get that, it will be cheaper to mod that one with suspension, tour pack etc than to get something else and make it a SG. The weight thing and GVWR mentioned is so very true, not many here on the forum understand this formula and how it relates to safety. So with that said do not even consider a 21" front wheel (if you were thinking of this).
Ive been told by dealers when my son and his friends were looking in the used market that the 007-08 are highly sought after. I have an 07 and wouldnt trade for the world. TBW is complex, cush drive issues and a host of other nuances that people complain about. Of course this is my $.02 dont forget to enjoy the ride.

Thanks for the input people, the ultra sounds nice. After sitting here till 4am looking and reading i really like the electra glide look, and the quick release trunk is just great. been pricing things as well. Spent an hour looking through the pic section, there are some really beautiful bikes on here, page 5 and 7 of the touring section pics has a couple bikes in which i am looking to end up with. It's crazy how taking the trunk off makes the bike look total different!
With what I've read so far, the bike I you may be looking for would be the 2009 Electra Glide Standard. 2009 was the last year for this model.
It has the new frame, and tbw. This is a stripped down version of the classic. No radio, no intercom, no dodads. It has a box were the radio is suppose to be.
The bike had the same price as the Road King, so it should be near the same price used as a used Road King.
The big advantage I see in the bike is it has the same wiring harness as the classic so many of the accessories you my want to add will all ready have some place to plug them in.
Another option would be a police version of this bike. Basically the same with the 103 motor and the options that go with that.

Sounds like you want a SG and I did too.. That lasted about 2 years and with the wife riding more I recently traded for an Ultra. Id go 09 or newer Ultra or EG if the funds were availible. The 09s do not have a catalyst in the exhaust where as the 10s and newer do. (unless a Cali bike) Just installed a catless header on my 12 due to heat. Not to bad in the fall/winter (was actually kind of nice my right foot never got cold) but didnt want to ride this summer that way.
My SG would bottom out riding 2 up across railroad tracks and some dips in road (bridges ect) The ride is better on a Ultra as well. I agree there are some styling ques I like better about the SG. If I still had mine I would had added Ultra shocks, lowers, and a tour pak. If you add a tour pak to the SG you still will not have rears speakers with out additional electronic upgrades $$$. With all the other things that come with a Ultra I decided it would be better just to trade. If the wife didnt ride much Id still have the SG but she has been wanting to take some long road trips here lately. I could sit on my SG all day long but she couldn't. The two options that I would require would be a radio and cruise control. Just my 2 cents buy what you want, based on your short list you cant go wrong if you ran up on a good deal.
Btw Not sure Im going to remove the tour pak. Even though it looks better without (daytime only) I l like the additional/easy access storage and two additional speakers.

After looking on here for hours, and reading alot...i'm leaning on the EG ....i love the look of it with the trunk off, i already am pricing the things i will want on it. The removeable quick latcjh thing for the trunk is a must have! Also another seat and yeah i'd be happy...
