Custom Camo Paint
See I like that, it just does not have the pop I was thinking of.
i was thinking some sort of flame job with the flames being camo, or a half design in camo. Something... I do not know.
You are certainly right that the paint on the bike doesn't have the same "pop" or attitude as the two bikes you had posted pictures of. The reason for that may be mostly due to the large canvas that the Touring bike has. You could potentially add a little more attitude if you were to drop the windshield, powdercoat the majority or even all of the chrome, wrap the exhaust, and run a wheel/tire combination that's as aggresive looking as the two bikes you posted.
However, considering again the large canvas of the FL, the camo flames may also be cool and not as overwhelming as doing camouflage over the entire bike.
Just a thought.
Get some camo material and cut to shape to cover some or all of the parts you might like painted. Hold it on with some weak 2 sided tape. Stand back, look at it, maybe take a few pics and change it around until you find the "look" you're after.

P.S. Personal preferences here and I know that you live and ride alot in desert areas as well as this may also serve as a tribute to your Bro in the "sandbox" but with a black bike I think the snow camoflage (black, white and gray) would look cool as well.
