Ok guys, did the search and checked what's already been suggested (at least what I found).
I have an 08 FLHR (non abs) with about 5600 mi on it that has a brake problem. At higher speeds you don't notice it, but as you slow down (at about 10-15 mph) with a light touch on the front brakes the brakes will start to pulse badly. It feels as though I'm squeezing and releasing the brake handle, when in fact I'm holding it lightly.
I checked the rotors for runout with a dial indicator. Right - approx .002 Left - approx .002-.003. While I was at it I checked the wheel for runout. It's within .003.
The only thing I can think of is to check the brake pads for wear, which I'll do the next few days. Just lookin at em they look ok.
Anyone have any ideas here? Calipers maybe? Thanks in advance.
They changed the brake disks twice during the warranty period. I think it has something to do how the disk floats there... Bad design from moco. I learned 08 had a few "features" which wasn't quite right but they keep telling you they are features. At least after the warranty period they are ;-)
Next summer I will learn all the features 2010 has...
There is a chance that the residual pad material layover is not uniform and the rotors don't get hot enough to get the pads to work.
I can recommend Performance Friction Brake Pads which are the longest lasting on the market. No wonder we are the prime choice for top leading fleet vehicle brands and Race Teams. Good Initial and Modulation. No Dust. No Noise. Used on Police Bikes.
