18 inch ape problems
so i started putting 18 inch apes on my 2000 RK i got a 18-20 inch ape hanger cable kit from JPcycles http://www.jpcycles.com/product/510-272 the company who made the cables were barnett. when i put all the cables on the throttle and idle cables swung way out away from the bar like they are 3-4 inch to long and when i turn the throttle it doesn't pull on the throttle cable until its almost fully twisted and wiggles from lack of tension then i installed the clutch cable tried to tighten it up even with the bolt all the way out, there is about a inch of slack i can't get rid of i put everything on the way i took it off and was wondering if there were any tricks or steps i didn't know that i had to do to make everything fit right or if i have to scrap the cables and buy them individually

Forget about the overall length of your cables & focus on the stroke of the inner cable & the security of the cable jacket. If the jacket can't move on both ends, you just have the stroke of the steel cable to deal with. Follow your adjustment instructions from your bikes service manual. I had to do a lil tweeking when I swapped out cables to a different brand of carb but I got it done after a few colorful words of encouragement!
