Default Flange question on FM 2-1-2 install

Well, I looked through the forum (search tool) and didn't really find anything that addressed my question. I was kind of surprised.

Anyway, I'm getting ready to tackle my FM 2-1-2 install on my 2011 SG. I was going to do it myself, then I thought maybe I'd pay an indy, and now I'm back to doing it myself.

Before I get everything apart, I have a question though.

How hard is it to get the old Flanges off the stock pipe, and transfer them to the FM pipe?

I just want to make sure that I can do it, so any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated.

Since I didn't see the question asked and answered already, I'm hoping that maybe it's just super easy. I just want to make sure I know what I need to do before I get her tore apart.

Thanks!

The flanges remove easily once the snap rings that hold them on are removed. Special snap-ring pliers are available to make that task easier. I got mine at Sears years ago for about $15.00. By special, I mean the tips are duck-bill shaped with scores in them, they are not the pointed or very small cylindrical type snap ring type pliers normally seen. And when you squeeze the plier handle, the tip opens from a normally closed position.

I used regular snap ring pliers and just put the 2 points between the gap on the clip, it worked just fine..its not that tough..

I'm a bit "tool deprived" so I used a flat screwdriver and a pair of pliers. Once you get one end over the lip, the rest is easy. Snap ring pliers would be the easiest way though.

pliers and just pop the snap rings off. Pull up one side and then walk it around.

Don't let it stay stretched for any longer than necessary. It sits in a groove on the flange so it needs to be small not stretched out.

Hey, great!

Thanks for the responses. It certainly sounds easy enough.
