You might be right, however I think if you set up the 103" right you could get some big numbers. One thing I have learned is it is ALL about flow...as in head-work and a great tune. No matter what the build a good foundation, "blueprint" is what makes a build. Before I went with the 117" I had a 95" making 101/108 which aint too shabby. And that was running a 510 Andrews....should have gone with more cam on that one but the heads made the difference. Dan Vance Racing has done both sets and I attribute his work to getting good numbers. Both builds are very ridable in all respects. :-)

What kind of power are you making and what components? You are on the right path to look to head work as it makes all the difference. When I had Dan do my heads he asked what components I was going with and set the heads up for them. For the 117" we used 110" heads and he flowed them with the HPI 58mm T/B I am using. Cost was really reasonable and the results speak for themselves. Heads should always be your "first port of call". :-)

You are absolutely right, mike_oh. Flow and tune are critical. So is using parts that compliment each other. You can go out and buy a bunch of high priced parts and put it all together and it will be a dog and run like crap too. You've got a runner because your components are working together.
