Default Help needed-stuck

I'm in the process of changing out my lower fork sliders. I followed the Maintenance Manual instructions however, the fork cap nut is a freaken 1 3/3" nut. Took me 2-hours to just find a socket. Now the socket with the breaker bar is too tall to get on the nut. Is there another way. I could use some advice about now..

Thanks

36mm or 13/8 combination wrench from northern, harbor freight, tractor supply or the like, think I gave 10.00. Just won't get a socket/ratchet in there without completely stripping the front end

I am trying to understand what the issue is, are you saying the socket isn't deep enough?

The only Socket I could get was 3/4 drive. They didn't have a 3/4 Rachet or breaker bar so I had to get the adapter which is all too tall. I tried the crescent wrench and that don't work. I guess I need a 1 3/8 wrench. I have been to Sears, Lowes, Home Depot, many Auto Supply stores..no luck with finding a wrench. Perhaps Harbor Freight is next...

You can find 1 1/4" combo wrench and use a Dremel to make it slightly larger; I did this a few years ago and it worked--the fork cap bolts are not highly torqued.

Later, I bought a very shallow 35mm or 36mm socket that uses a 3/8" drive--makes the job much easier; found it on ebay.

Lots of these for sale, 6 pt, better chance of NOT rounding off the corners of your fork cap.
