Just picked up a Clearview windshield for my 2000 Road King Classic. It is supposed to work with my existing windshield mounting hardware. However, I am noticing that the bottom 2 holes (both the left and right) do not seem to line up. They both are 1/8 - 1/4" off.
It seem to me that the only way to make this fit is to drastically bend the bottom of the shield on both ends or extend the bottom holes with a dremmel or something...
Anyone have similar issues or can offer guidance? Needless to say, I am not wanting to damage my new shield.
I've had 2 clearview shields and didn't encounter any prooblems with the holes not lining up. It wouldn't be something simple like having the right verticle support mixed up with the left one??
Unfortunately, not. When I swap them, the holes are completely off. Here, it's only the bottom holes and it's very subtle.
Did you have to bend the shield at all to get the mounting hardware installed? I mean it's close, but it's off just enough where it will need bent or modified.
It probably just needs a little more of a bend to it, to get everything to line up. It probably won't have the right shape until it's been mounted on a bike for a bit. Also, on mine the holes for the brackets are oversized so you can move the brackets around in relation to the shield.
yeah, I tried starting at the bottom first and I made sure that they were mounted slow on the oversized holes and then the top was not lined up... yeah, I'll call them next week to see what their thoughts are, hopefully they'll fix it. This is the first I have dealt with them, so I am hoping this goes smoothly.

Actually, walking away from it (as opposed to throwing my tools and cursing) and bouncing this thread has helped me out.
Turns out, I am an idiot and the solution was pretty obvious once I cleared my head. I tightened down the top 2 fully to see if it helped bend the shield and sure enough it worked... Don't you love spending a ton of time on something that ended up being obvious.
Well, sorry for taking your time, but I appreciated the ideas and thoughts... thanks a lot folks!
