Actually, walking away from it (as opposed to throwing my tools and cursing) and bouncing this thread has helped me out.

Turns out, I am an idiot and the solution was pretty obvious once I cleared my head. I tightened down the top 2 fully to see if it helped bend the shield and sure enough it worked... Don't you love spending a ton of time on something that ended up being obvious.

Well, sorry for taking your time, but I appreciated the ideas and thoughts... thanks a lot folks!
