this is a pretty cool option that retains all the factory controls, charges your apple product too...and cheaper than harley!

the harley mounts your ipod in the saddlebag-so not much use for an ipod touch or iphone if you need the display for maps or directions ( the H-D was designed around the ipod nano).

to control the ipod with your hand controls- your eyes are off the road ALOT looking at the radio screen as you page through menus.

2 minuses for me, but these may not be factors for you.

the hd mounts your ipod in the saddlebag, if you choose to. you would have to buy the longer cable to do that. i have mine in the right side compartment in my fairing. the ica version has a long enough cable to mount it in your saddlebag as well, but does not have the quick disconnect at the saddlebag. it can also be mounted up front in the fairing.

as far as controlling your ipod, both of them are controlled pretty much the same so there is not any appreciable difference in the amount of time eyes off the road with either. personally, i don't use playlists, i just load my ipod with music i like, and set it on shuffle. if it comes across a song i don't really want to hear, just a quick flip of the thumb, and it changes to the next song. don't have to take eyes off the road at all.

yes, the hd version says that it prefers the nano, but it will use others as well. you can even use a classic if you want to take the chance on killing the physical hard drive. it will work with an iphone, or ipod touch, and even show you the track playing if your using an iphone with pandora, same as the ica.

the biggest difference between the 2 is price. the ica version installs slightly differently as well, but not appreciably. in my case, i bought the hd version from an online discounter for $330, and used $100 chrome cash from my credit card, so my out of pocket was only $230. well worth it in my book.

actually either option is worth it, imo.

My wife gave me the HD set up for xmas. I have been using it for about a week now and I agree with Skratch. I just use it in the shuffle mode. I like having it in my saddle bag so i never have to think about it.

Just installed the Ipod interface on my Ultra this weekend. I have mine set up so the Nano stays in tourpack not the saddlebag. The tourpack is never coming of for me and I like to take my saddlebags off to get to things for cleaning purposes. I do have the adjustable tourpack set up so we made sure the tourpack was ALL the way back when we wired things up to make sure we had enough cable. Got mine from EasternPerformance. Great company to work with..good pricing and always good people to work with. I love not having it hanging from the windshield bags now....and the fact its charging all the time is a big plus. Love this mod.
