It's normal. Cat or not you can see exhaust temps of 1600F at wot, it's plenty hot enough to discolor an exhaust. Ever looked under a car?

Normal or not I had an 07 ultra with 25,000 on it and my pipe never looked like that and it never felt that hot, this thing will smoke your Levi's!

I have not but I have rode other 2012 limited's and they have all been extremely hot.

My Limited was quite toasty as well. The lower's contribute a lot to the heat. I have since traded for a 11 RKC and while it is warm it is considerably less than the Limited was. I removed the CAT from my 11 Limited but have yet to do so on my RKC. I think I will though just for something to do over the winter.

i relocated my cat to the scrap bin. dont you think if it was the cat it would be turning both head pipes that color not just the back? they both go through the cat.
just my 2 cents.

Rear cylinder run's a lot hotter than the front.

That's what my headpipe looked like when I removed it..... My limited even yellowed the chrome just after the cat.

Harley looked at it and said nothing was wrong with the bike and warranty'd the slip on.....

My wife is allergic to cats so I had to let it go......

Love my true duals!!
