I'm curious about the add ons you've purchased, other than exhaust swaps etc.
The MoCo delivered clean looking, shaved, unique bagger compared to
previous models, with tasteful amounts of chrome, fillers, no driving lights, few
doodads. Conceptually I thought it was a homerun for a production bike.

What did you add and why?

Not much:

Smoked turn lenses
Smooth timer cover
Pushbutton fuel door release
Short antenna
Streamliner shift pegs
Headlamp bezel
HD aircleaner cover
Removable backrest

Removed tank badges

I got the SG because I liked the stripped down look. Putting a bunch of stuff on it kind of defeats the purpose of owning it in the first place, IMO.

I added Kuryakyn ISO-grips. I also put the EZ brake lever on because I like the way it is positioned compared to the stock pedal. Riders backrest and an 8" smoked Clearview windshield. Will add an exhaust and tuner as soon as I am convinced what is the best choice. I currently run a Thunderheader on a 00 Standard and love the way it sounds but it does have a torque dip right where I don't want it at 2500 rpm's. Recovers quickly but it is there.

Hidden antenna. Detachable passenger backrest. Kuryakyn trigger finger levers. I took the tank emblems off, too. (Glad to see someone else didn't like them, I thought I was alone)

My original idea a couple of years ago was to take a Electra glide standard and clean it up. The streetglide did that right out of the box.

I like the Street Glide stock just fine but I like mine more now. I have added:

Chrome lower fork sliders
Chrome Upper covers
other little items to complete the chrome front end.....spacers etc..
Spun aluminum wheels from a SE Road King because I think they go with the bike well and because I HATED the stock wheels
(I also have less than $200 in them)
SE II Slash cut slip ons
Kuryakan Pilot grips with throttle boss
HD short adjustable highway pegs
Visor style headlamp trim
Clear turn signal covers with the visor style trim ring
A bunch of small chrome do-dads here and there that most non harley riders wouldn't notice even if poointed out to them

I also added a few things to enhance the bike in either winter riding or touring:

A leather tourpack from a RK classic with QD rack and associated docking hardware
Vented lower fairings(getting painted as we speak to match the bike)
8" clear windsheild(not on the bike now and since I don't like the way it looks too much probably never will be on the bike)
Passenger backrest QD with docking hardware.

I am about done with mods. I may add a full exhaust system later but other than that I am really happy with my SG.

Madav8tr,

Thanks,
Lyn in ATL

Tech2,

What process did you use to remove the tank badges without damaging the finish?
