I want to put a stereo in my 05 FLHT, alot of what I see on here is 06 and up HK. Radio and install kit I can figure out, speakers and amp, well could use some advice there. Considering Hawg Wired amp w/speakers, or mavbe PYO Rockford Fosgate amp w/speakers. So, how about some tips from you all that own these "old" bikes, and what you have done, and what your results were in actual quailty of sound at speed, quailty of the product, mix and match, whatever. I'm sure alot of people would benefit from this info. Thanks.
When you start adding an amp, there is no real difference between an "older" bike (say, '05 and older), and newer bikes because the amp is going to use the speaker outputs (regardless of the radio/head unit) and the amp you add won't care that the '05 and older radios were 8 ohm impedance and the newer models with the HK radio are 2 ohm impedance.
The point is that when you are adding an amp, the model year of the bike or OEM head unit makes no difference from a compatibility standpoint. So what folks are reporting on their '06 and newer bikes is just as relevant and applicable to your '05.
From an installation standpoint, there is no difference between your '05 and the newer EG's and SG's.
