I am putting in a set of 203's in my bagger, and had a couple of questions about the parts needed. Originally I had planned to just replace the cams and the pushrods, but then I was told to also replace the valve springs with straight double coil set, and replace the tappets. Is this nesc? It really increase the cost of the parts.
It's probably not a bad idea to repalce the lifters. For 203's, you don;t "have to" use adjustable puchrods, but it saves from having to remove the rocker covers and rocker assy's and re-install.
For that bagger, you might wanna take a look at the Andrews 26's. You'd be a whole bunch happier with the results.
my stock springs are still in mine,i've had no problems. wish i had gone with the adjustable push rods, but the funds didnt allow it at the time, should it need work i'll have them changed out then to save on tearing into the top end again and of coarse the labor rate too
Agreed 203s in a bagger is not going to make you happy.
I've been looking around for some HP and Torque comparison charts between cams, and manufacturers, but have not found any yet. It's hard to buy a product with nothing substantial to look at, just opinion. If you know where I can get some better info please tell me.
