Default TBW grip install

Just ordered a set of RSD Black Ops from the good Dr and have an install question. I seem to remember references here in the past about the need for a spacer for the brake switch during installation. Can anyone confirm and explain what this is if indeed needed? Assuming a pretty straight forward install other than that? Appreciate the advice.

a popsicle stick or like I use is a 3 or 4" end of a plastic wire tie bent in half. Pull the front brake lever in and place the stick or wire tie that is bent in half in the gap that is present to hold the front brake lever slightly pulled in.

Stick a 5/32" allen wrench in between. It should tell you what to do in the instructions it keeps a little switch from popping out.

I used a piece of cardboard folded a couple of times. It's needed because the brake light switch is very fragile and a PITA to replace.

I think I used the end of a zip tie.

Red face Spacer

I recently installed the Heritage Style Bars for Road King on mine...and ran into that problem of NOT using a spacer. Then when I finally opened the manual to read up AFTER I did the job....yup! There it is! I broke mine off and suffered the consiquences.

There is a tiny "nub" on the micro switch that tends to be quite fragile and will easily break off when the brake housing is re-installed if there is insufficient space between the brake lever and the switch.

A small peice of cardboard to keep the brake slightly depressed will work fine. Just make sure it's still in there and stays in there when you re-install the brake lever on the bars.

Thanks guys! I will use the zip tie method and be careful when I put it back together.
