Dynamic Ringz LED front signals by Custom Dynamics installed
You are correct. These are meant for being seen. Not to help you see. And they do what they are supposed to do. While they do add a tiny bit of light at night I would not use these if that is your primary goal. Consider adding true driving lights, fog lights or passing lamps. Many LED options out there.
Is there something I'm missing, and is there a good reason to pick one over the other? Should I stick with CD if I'm going to get LED from there?
Thanks!

I like the idea of having the alternating amber light that the Dynamic Ringz offer, but it seems like the Moonshinez offer a much brighter white light, no?
What would you Guys do?
Thanks

My CD Dynamic Ringz should be here this week, probably next week for the Daymakers...

That is why I switched to the Dynamic Ringz. The masses have it in their mindset that flashing amber means turning, Flashing white would mean nothing to them except maybe you have a bad light.
Custom Dynamics Dynamic Ringz
I currently run the Moon Shinez by Custom Dynamics which are pure while LED front clusters. They act as driving lights and signals. Well they just came out with the new Dynamic Ringz which are an outer ring of pure white LED's which act as driving lights. But the center LED cluster flashes amber and the white outer ring shuts off when the signals are activated. I think these are a little safer as to not confuse oncoming traffic.
Quality is always great with Custom Dynamics. The clusters have a coating on the back to protect the circuit board against moisture. I really like what CD has done with the connector plug on their newer LED clusters. They have put a slot that allows you to use a flat head screw driver when inserting and turning the plug. Much easier than the older style that you had to press in with your fingers and turn.
Installation is a snap.
-Pop off your turn signal lens and remove the bulb.
-Using a flat head screwdriver inserted into the plug slot push the plug in and turn until locked.
-Hold the cluster in your hand and while facing you rotate either clockwise or counter-clockwise to coil the wires behind the cluster.
-Place the cluster in the signal housing and while holding it in place pop your lens back on.
Simple as that.
The white outer ring is not as bright as the Moon Shinez, but is still plenty bright enough to be noticed in the daytime as well as at night. In the dark they light up to a slight bluish white which perfectly matches any of the current LED headlights on the market. The switching from the outer white to amber is instant but there is a very slight delay in the transition from amber back to white. Nothing to worry about there.
I am very happy with these. I am not a fan of amber running lights, but I think they will be beneficial when turning as most of the population is used to seeing amber as a turn indicator.
Here are a few pics and a quick video.
You can see here how the back of the cluster is coated to protect from moisture

The notch in the plug for super easy install

Hard to snap pics of LED lights. But this shows the difference between the outer white running light and amber inner signal

These are the Moon Shinez for comparison

Per request here are a few pics outside in the sun. Doesn't good a good representation of how bright they actually are.

Does anyone make a led turn signal that combines the functionality of both the moon shinez and the dynamic ringz? Basically all the LEDs are white during DRL mode, then all the LEDs turn Amber during the turn signal mode?
