I guess if you set on milking every drop of power and know a good tuner (I've spent my $ and was worse off than before) you should go with a dyno. But I'm ok depending on my auto thue to keep me in a good state of tune regardless of altitude, weather changes, etc. You can get a very good base map for your setup from either dynojet or fuelmoto (I'd rather the later) and allow autotune to peek the tune to your bike. Yes autotune only references AFR (fuel) and adjust as needed, but you can change the timeing tables manually.
I agree finding a good tuner is key. If one isn't available the auto tuners might be the only choice. Reach out to some of the tuning experts on the forum for help establishing correct timing values.

I felt the auto tuners didnt address timeing especially at first.Then they added an adjustment program witch goes by your opening and closing information of your cam or you can collect data on opening and closeing to fine tune(which i might do at some point)But this made a huge difference.So updateing the software is a good thing and getting some help on this site ,like i did.Weather or not a dyno tech knows what he is doing is another thread,If I where to get a dyno ,id either get one of those report run types that just gives you your numbers or id go all the way and pay top dollar for only the best dyno tech.
