Default 1" Lowering Kit Question

I recently purchased the HD premium shocks standard height 13" for my street glide. I liked the extra travel provided. Of course these will raise the rear about 1". So I am thinking about the 1" lowering kit from LA choppers to bring the bike back to its original height. I am not sure about the Road6custom kit because it changes the angle and the LA choppers seems a better design. Has anyone done something similar? How happy are you with the LA Chopper lowering kit? Thanks

I have the 12" premium shocks on my street glide and both the road six and la choppers lowering blocks in a box int he garage. I could not get neither to work with the premium shocks due to the design of the bottom end of shock. They worked with the stock air shocks no problem.

If I'm not mistaken, using the lowering blocks changes the angle of the shock, and will reduce the added travel accomplished with you new shocks giving you a stiffer ride.

Seems like a lot of money spent, first to raise your bike for a better ride, and then again to lower you bike and a worse ride.

Just my opinion.

How do you like the 12" premium shock? Are they a lot better then the original shocks? Thanks

You have a point Dave. It is one of my brilliant ideas to save money and perhaps back firing.

I have the Road6 kit on the firts hole and it works beautifully without the shocks touching the hardbags. I tried the LAChoppers kit and sent it back. The bottom block moved the shock out causing it to touch my bags ( unacceptable). For 1/3 the cost you have an excellent product (Road6). Friend of mine tried the same kit on his RG on the second hole and because the RG already comes from the factory lower than the RK it made the suspension really stiff. I wouldnt go any lower than 1" remembering that like many ghings in life ' less is more'.

Are you using the premium shocks or the stock ones? According to parkashard they do not work. I think he is right.

If you have the option to return the HD shocks you would be better off buying either the Ohlin 2-2a 12 1/8 in shocks , they have the travel of the 13 " shock and are still 1/8" of the same lenght after setting up sag you will actually be lower than the stock shocks with your forum discount from Motorcycle metal they are under $ 600 i think or go with the 940 Progressives, they are a 13 " shock the sags to 12 so the bike sits at the lowered height but you get the travel of a 13' shock they can be found for 459.00

If your changing shocks get the right ones for your use, dont buy shocks and add on blocks to correct for the shocks

I don't believe your correct that the Ohlins 12 1/8" shocks give you the 4+" of travel as their 13 1/4" versions. I had the 12's to start with and sent them back for the 13's for more shock stroke.
