Default Error code? or warning??

Rode the bike to town today, and noticed a strange problem! When I turned the switch on to crank instead of the engine light coming on for a couple seconds all lights oil, engine etc.. Came on and the speedo, and tack both pegged out then returned to normal? I don't remember this the last time I rode!
Is this telling me there is some kind of problem? Bike ran fine.
09 streetglide.

That sounds like the bike was going into it's self-diagnostics mode. Normally you need to depress and hold the odometer reset switch while turning on the ignition switch for this to occur.

When this occurred did you see "diag" in the odometer field?

Maybe your odometer reset switch is malfunctioning. Could be a temporary/intermittent glitch with the switch. I would try it again and if it happens, turn off the ignition switch and then cycle the odo reset switch a few times and retry.

Default It worked

You were right on the money! Just went out and tried your suggestion, and now it seems fine! Is it common for this to happen, or could the switch be bad? I wash my bike often so maybe water got into it? Should I just go ahead and replace?

You're right - probably some moisture in the switch temporarily shorting it. It will more than likely be fine once it dries out. Be careful in the future when washing. I like to minimize spraying water around any electronics or connectors when washing. And I only wash my bike when it's filthy, like after riding in the rain. Most of the time I simply damp wipe it.

How often are you hosing the bike down, I haven't hosed mine yet and I clean it after every 200 miles or so? There's less evasive ways to wash your steed, I believe there was a thread about it while back.

i had this happen on my 07 road king. bike was still under warranty so took it in and 30 mins later rode off with a new reset switch.

if you're bike is not under warranty, and this keeps happening, the switch is only about $15.00 and is an easy repair.
